Imagine wanting to go to school to learn, see friends, and enjoy a safe environment, but being unable to do so.
Unlike in the United States, where students can simply show up on the first day, Haiti’s public education system has specific requirements for attendance each year. Students need a uniform, a patch, and school supplies, which cost around $120 USD per student. Many families in Haiti cannot afford these expenses, leaving numerous children unable to attend school.
Planting Seeds of Hope
At Seed into Roots, we harness the power of education to break the cycle of poverty in Haiti. Our mission is to empower children by providing access to education and overcoming barriers to schooling. We offer targeted programs for three distinct groups of children, addressing their specific needs and ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and become a future leader.
1. Full School Registration and Supplies Program
In Haiti, many families can’t afford the cost of education. Our Full School Registration and Supplies Program removes this barrier by covering all school-related expenses for children whose parents can't pay. We handle everything from registration to providing uniforms, books, shoes, backpacks, and other supplies. This comprehensive support ensures that every child starts school fully equipped and ready to learn.
2. School Supplies Assistance Program
Many children in Haiti are enrolled in school but struggle without the basic supplies needed to succeed. Without essential items like notebooks, pencils, and backpacks, their ability to fully engage in learning is limited. Through our School Supplies Assistance Program, we provide these children with the tools they need to thrive. A simple backpack filled with school supplies can make a world of difference, ensuring students are equipped and ready to learn, which helps them focus on their education and unlock their potential.
3. Mid-Year Scholarship Program
For some children, the journey to education is abruptly interrupted due to unpaid school fees. These children start the school year with hope, only to be sent back home when their families can no longer afford the costs. Our Mid-Year Scholarship Program steps in to bridge this gap. We provide scholarships to ensure that these students can continue their education without interruption. By covering their school fees, we prevent them from falling behind and help them stay on track toward a brighter future.
